Letting Go Of The Past – An important first step to success.

Over the years I have learned some valuable lessons from some amazing mentors and teachers that are instrumental in creating success. I have compiled a list of  21 Steps to Success Guaranteed to Change Your life Forever which you can access here.

The first step, and an extremely important one at that involves Letting Go of the Past.  What I mean by this, is “letting go” of past events, past behaviours, beliefs that may be holding you back. Really let go.  You absolutely need to get past all those events that you might deem to be “Failures”, all those things someone did to you or you believe was done to you.

“Spending today, complaining about yesterday won’t make tomorrow any better.”

I cannot stress the importance of this step enough. Something as simple and non-eventful as a scolding as a child, or something a teacher may have said may be standing between you and your success. It can also be as serious as a traumatic event or a failed business in which case you may need some help getting over it.  It is essential that these issues be addressed if they are troubling you so that you can move forward.

If you are having trouble dealing with this on your own, there are some powerful techniques out there that can help. You can get a coach who specializes in this, investigate EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or Faster EFT (there are tons of free videos online that you can find.I highly recommend, Mia Doucet, an EFT practitioner. http://www. miadoucet.com)
And for those of you who  might feel that you have things under control, I highly suggest that you take a look at areas in your life where you may feel stuck and ask yourself why. It is highly likely that some past belief has you stuck that may require a little reflection and self-analysis.Bottom line is, fear, lack of confidence, self sabotage and other limiting beliefs are often a product of something in the past and by eliminating this negative influence, you can be powerful beyond belief.

A wish for you this Christmas

“This Christmas mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a letter. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word and deed. Keep a promise. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Apologize. Try to understand. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love, and then speak it again.”

I came across this Christmas quote and wanted to share with my readers. I hope you will take it to heart and I sincerely wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

My “Dream Big” Manifesto has been upgraded

A few years ago, I created a Manifesto. It was a time in my life when I made a huge decision, when I had the realization that if I played small and mediocre, I was teaching my children to do the same. I chose instead to dream big and play big! Here’s what I came up with:

I Dream Big Manifesto

I declare that I will dream big. No goal is too big. No dream too outrageous.
I am a positive fabulous being put on this earth to live, create, contribute, serve and influence and I will use my talents, my gifts to be everything that I am capable of being.
I choose to take action every day to move forward towards achieving those goals, towards greatness.
I choose to live a life beyond mediocrity.
I will surround myself with positive, amazing people whom I will support in their dreams, as well.
I  recognize that there will be obstacles, there will be fear, there will be some failures but I choose and promise that I will learn from this and do what it takes to overcome and move forward.
I’m ready to play big!

So that was several years ago. I’ve written this on my vision board. I have sent this on greeting cards and postcards to my fellow entrepreneurial friends too so that they could embrace it as their vision . I have had it on blog posts and websites. I really loved it and lived it.

… and then a few weeks ago I came across something written by David Wood and my old Manifesto sounded… well.. weak.

Here it is:

Adopted Manifesto from David Wood

My magic is, and always has been in my consistency, persistence, and unmovable vision.

I don’t care what obstacles I face – I will step into my vision.

It doesn’t matter who comes and goes.

It doesn’t matter how much it costs.

Or how much energy it takes to create it.

Or what distractions appear along the way.

I am Terezija Susak Kumric and I build dreams.

I crush obstacles in the face.

And I – along with those who are with me – will step into the greatest victory of them all.

Realization of the vision that’s on the inside.

Giving birth to a new YOU.

You see, I have grown and with it my dreams, my vision and who I am and what I believe I am capable of a doing has grown too. So my “old” Manifesto is still alive and well but kind of “wimpy” compared to what I saw on David Wood’s wall and what spoke to me and started a fire in me that got me beyond excited.

One of my favourite videos | Susan Boyle’s First Audition for Britain’s Got Talent

I’m generally not a fan of dancing cat or talking baby videos but show me a video where someone has, against all odds, found what they are passionate about, shared it with the world and achieved massive success and I will share it with the world.

Check out one of my favourite success story videos. Unemployed 47 year old Susan Boyle,  after having little success in the singing world auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent, shocking the judges and impressing the world:

My wish for you… don’t go to your grave with the  unsung song still in your heart. Your dream and talent may not be to sing like Susan Boyle but whatever it is, live it!

The Perfect Vision Board

Creating the perfect vision board involves creating what is “perfect” for you, what reflects your goals and dreams, material or otherwise. It involves much more than just cutting pretty pictures of material things out of magazines and posting them up.

I believe vision boards are one of the most important visualization tools, instrumental in helping you create and attract your ideal future, your dream life.  (See my post here on why Vision Boards really do work)

Here are a few tips on creating the perfect vision board to work for you:

Keep your vision board somewhere where you can see it every day. It needs to be an affirmation of your goals and desires and a tool to keep you on target and focused. Hiding it away will keep it out of sight and out of mind. Your vision board needs to be visible and on your mind.

When you achieve a goal, don’t remove it from your vision board. Keep the image there as a reminder of your achievement. Express gratitude. Seeing your accomplishments will increase your belief in accomplishing the remaining goals on your vision board and help you achieve them faster.

Update regularly. As you grow, your dreams will grow to. Your vision board also acts as a powerful record of your growth and journey . It’s very empowering for the rest of your journey to see where you were, where you are and where you are going.

Make a conscious effort to look at your vision board every morning and every night before bed. Reflect on these goals. Picture yourself achieving them. Affirm your desires. By doing so you are getting closer to living the life of  your dreams.

To your success,
